Brought to You by Classic Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM
When it comes to SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a no-contest winner! For nearly a decade, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has offered award-winning off-road capability and luxury on-road smoothness and the 2020 model year is no different! With seven incredible trim options, four powerful engines, and even more available features, how can you possibly decide on a model? Luckily, we’ve broken down the characteristics of each trim level so you can make an informed decision!
The Grand Cherokee Lineup
Laredo
The Grand Cherokee Laredo is the base model for the 2020 lineup. It comes with the standard 3.6L V6 engine that is rated with 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This model comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, and a six-speaker sound system paired with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This standard model also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration!
Limited
The Limited model is the first in the lineup where you can stick with the V6 engine or upgrade to the 5.7L V8, which provides 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque and best-in-class 7,200-pound towing capacity. Limited models come with similar amenities as the Laredo, but adds a remote start, heated seats and steering wheel, leather upholstery, and a power liftgate. The Limited models also come with an upgraded 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation. New for 2020, the Limited models come with a single pane sunroof!
Trailhawk
For those of us that need an SUV that can keep up with our more adventurous travels, the Trailhawk is unmatched in its off-roading capability. It is designed with off-road tires and underbody skid plates for stability, no matter what trail you’re on. The Trailhawk also comes with a standard four-wheel-drive system with low-range gearing and an upgraded adaptive suspension to get you over even the most challenging obstacles. The 2020 Trailhawk comes with a standard single pane sunroof and an electronic rear differential with a terrain-selectable traction control system.
Overland/Summit
The Overland is a lot like the Trailhawk. It comes with similar features without the off-road tuneups and adds bi-xenon HID headlights, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, a body-colored grille, and 20-inch wheels. The Summit model, however, adds more safety features, a self-parking system, active noise-canceling technology, upgraded leather upholstery, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon system.
SRT
The SRT model is a sportier version of the Summit, designed to be high-powered with superior performance. The SRT comes with a 6.4L V8 engine with Fuel Saver Technology rated at 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. This car has an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. The SRT trim also comes with a high-performance tuned all-wheel-drive system, an adaptive sport-tuned suspension, steering, and brakes, a sport body kit, summer performance tires, and a limited-slip rear differential. Finally, the SRT comes with five dynamic drive modes so you can customize your experience regardless of driving conditions. The modes control the four-wheel-drive system, paddle shifters, stability control, suspension, steering, and transmission independently and are configured for Auto, Sport, Track, Tow, and Snow settings. All you have to do is flip a switch on the center console to your favorite setting and go!
Trackhawk
The last model is the most powerful and quickest SUV in history. It comes with a muscle-car like a 6.2L supercharged V8 engine that pumps out an incredible 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque! With a top speed of 180 mph, the Trackhawk has a performance of 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds. The Trackhawk comes with the SRT’s standard features, including the five drive modes, but adds more high-performance tech such as an upgraded adaptive suspension, upgraded eight-speed transmission, 20-inch wheels with high-performance tires, and Brembo brakes.
Even More Features!
All available engines come with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission that enhances fuel economy and delivers quick, smooth acceleration and speeding. Standard clearance is 8.6 inches with 8.2 for the SRT, 8.1 on the Trackhawk, and 10.6 when an additional suspension feature is added. Rear-wheel-drive is standard for most models except the Trailhawk, SRT, and Trackhawk, which all come with four-wheel-drive. Four-wheel-drive is also available for some of the lower trims. With 2-rows with enough room for 5-passengers, the Grand Cherokee has impeccable cargo space so you can bring all your equipment on the road with ease. There’s a total of 36.3 cubic feet in the back, but this opens up to 68.3 cubic feet when the seats are folded down. Additional features include Jeep Active Safety Group, now available on all the above models, which comes with Advanced Brake Assist, automatic high beams, and forward-collision warning. An upgraded 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation is also available.
