Engine Options for the 2022 Cherokee

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee comes with three engine options, and each one is very powerful! Standard is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder which gets you around 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque which you can get at the base trim level. As you move up the trim ladder, the engines become more powerful! First, check out the 3.2-liter V6 that kicks out a spectacular 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The other option is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder which gets about 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. All of these engines connect to a nine-speed automatic transmission, and while front-wheel-drive comes standard on most versions of the Cherokee, four-wheel-drive is an available option! Four-wheel-drive is standard on higher trims, such as the Limited and Trailhawk.

New to the Cherokee lineup this year is the X trim, which is perfect for those beginning their off-road adventures as it comes with Active Drive I AWD system with Selec-Terrain. Those who are more experienced off-roaders will love the Trailhawk trim, which gets in on the off-road fun with special wheels, a black hood decal, functional skid plates, and red tow hooks. Additional features include off-road suspension, heavy-duty engine cooling, and the Active Drive II AWD system with a 2-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and Selec-Speed control. The highest available trim is the excellent Limited, which rounds things out with some of the best luxury and performance features around, including a sunroof, leather seats, Alpine premium audio, and more tech features like adaptive cruise control, side distance warning, and automatic high beams. You also have access to an Elite package with 19-inch wheels, chrome tow hooks, navigation, sliding second-row seats, heated back seats, a hands-free power liftgate, HD Radio, and cooled front seats.
